Best tool for what
Which AI voice is best: narration or a live voice agent?
Narration and live agents are different jobs. For narration (text-to-speech), Artificial Analysis's blind-vote leaderboard ranked Eleven v4 Turbo first (Elo 1329) and Eleven v4 second (1328). For a live, interruptible voice agent, xAI says Grok Voice 3.0 ranks first on Artificial Analysis's Speech-to-Speech Index (86.9), which is a vendor claim. They are not directly comparable.

What we have not verified
- ElevenLabs' "preferred by about 75% of listeners" figure is from its own blind tests, so we do not rank on it.
- OpenAI's current voice offering is not verified on an OpenAI page; Coval's OpenAI datapoint is the older gpt-4o-mini-tts.
- Grok Voice 3.0 is speech-to-speech and Eleven v4 is text-to-speech, so numbers across the two groups are not like-for-like.
- We have not tested any of these ourselves.
