Turn an AI logo into a clean vector (SVG) file

Last verified .

  • You either have a logo idea or a logo image you already made with ChatGPT, Grok or another AI image tool. Those images are pixels (PNG or JPG), so they blur when scaled up and a sign shop or embroiderer will usually ask for a vector file instead.
  • There are two ways to a vector: generate the logo as a vector from the start (Recraft V4.1 in Vector mode, on Higgsfield or Recraft's own API), or convert an existing image (Recraft Vectorize, or Inkscape's free Trace Bitmap). Recraft's docs and Inkscape's manual both say tracing works best on simple, flat images, not photoreal or textured ones (checked Oct 25, 2026).
  • About an hour for a simple symbol plus name. Inkscape is free and open source (inkscape.org, checked Oct 25, 2026).

1. Workflow

  1. Write a short logo brief and 3 vector-friendly prompts: the exact business name, where the logo will be used, 1-3 colors as hex codes, and a simple flat style with no gradients, shadows or tiny details.

    Tool
Claude (ChatGPT or Grok also fine)
    Why
Flat shapes and few colors are what convert cleanly: Recraft's vector prompt guide says vector art prompts should stress structure, simple shapes and clean edges (checked Oct 25, 2026).
    Cost
    $0 on Free plans.

Paste into any chatbot. If you already have a logo image you like, upload it too.

  2. Starting fresh? Generate the symbol as a vector: on Higgsfield go to Image, pick Recraft V4.1, switch on Vector mode, paste one prompt and set your colors with Soul HEX. Explore in Standard, then make the final in Pro, and download the SVG.

    Tool
    Higgsfield (Recraft V4.1, Vector mode)
    Why
Higgsfield's Recraft guide says V4.1 and Utility offer a vector mode next to standard output, with Soul HEX color controls (Aug 26, 2026). Recraft's API docs say its vector variants return editable SVG built for logos (checked Oct 25, 2026).
    Cost
On Higgsfield: 2.5 credits per Standard vector image and 10 credits per Pro vector image (Higgsfield, verified Aug 2026). Via Recraft's API: $0.08 per vector image, $0.30 for Pro vector.
  3. Already have a logo image you love? Prepare it first (largest size you have, plain white background, flat colors), then convert it: Recraft Vectorize (in Recraft Studio, select the image, click Vectorize and lower the Color Reduction slider; or $0.01 per image via the API), or free in Inkscape with Path > Trace Bitmap (Brightness cutoff for a one-color logo, Multiple scans > Colors for a few colors).

    Tool
    Recraft Vectorize or Inkscape (free)
    Why
Recraft's docs describe Vectorize with a Color Reduction slider and SVG export, and warn that photoreal, 3D or textured images may produce artifacts. Inkscape's manual says Trace Bitmap is ideal for dark shapes on a bright background and makes one object per color (checked Oct 25, 2026).
    Cost
Recraft API Vectorize: $0.01 per request (needs a positive API units balance). Inkscape: $0.
  4. Check and tidy the SVG: count shapes and colors, remove stray specks, set the exact hex colors, and add the business name with a real font instead of AI-made letters. Keep an editable master and convert text to paths only on export copies.

    Tool
Claude (ChatGPT or Grok also fine), then Inkscape
    Why
AI and traced letters are often slightly wrong, and a sign shop or printer needs clean shapes and exact colors. An SVG is text, so a chatbot can read it and point out problems; always check its version visually against the original.
    Cost
$0 on Free plans; Inkscape $0.

Paste into any chatbot, with your SVG code or file and the brief from Step 1.

  5. Export your logo kit from the master: full color, one-color black, one-color white, and a square icon, each as SVG plus PNGs at a few sizes. Look at the icon at favicon size and on dark and light backgrounds before you send files to a printer or sign shop.

    Tool
Inkscape (free) or any vector editor
    Why
Websites, social profiles, shirts and signs each need a different version, and a mark that falls apart when tiny needs simplifying before it goes anywhere.
    Cost
    $0.

3. Total cost

Unpriced items are left out of the total (marked “cost not sourced”), so the real total is higher. All totals are our arithmetic from sourced unit prices.

Cheapest route

$0.69 before unpriced items

Our arithmetic: sum of the sourced line items only; lines marked 'cost not sourced' are excluded, so the real total is higher.

Cheapest route: a free chatbot for the brief and the SVG check, Recraft's pay-as-you-go API for a few vector tries, and Inkscape for tracing, lettering and export.

  • Steps 1 and 4 brief, prompts and SVG check: Claude Free: $0.00

Our arithmetic: Claude Free plan = $0 (our arithmetic)

Free has usage limits; a few chats fit.

  • Step 2 symbol: Recraft V4.1 vector via Recraft's API, 8 tries: $0.64

    Our arithmetic: 8 × $0.08 = $0.64 (our arithmetic)

Pay as you go: you buy API units first ($1 = 1,000 units); packages are non-refundable and units don't expire. Recraft doesn't list a package size on that page.

  • Step 3 (if you already have an image): Recraft Vectorize via the API, 5 tries: $0.05

    Our arithmetic: 5 × $0.01 = $0.05 (our arithmetic)

PNG, JPG or WEBP in, SVG out, up to 20 MB. Or use Inkscape's Trace Bitmap for $0.

  • Steps 3-5 tracing, lettering and export: Inkscape: $0.00

Best-quality route

$49.00 before unpriced items

Our arithmetic: sum of the sourced line items only; lines marked 'cost not sourced' are excluded, so the real total is higher.

Best route: Higgsfield's Recraft V4.1 Pro vector with Soul HEX colors for the final mark, leaving most of the month's credits for other images and video.

Line items (4)
  • Steps 1 and 4: Claude Free: $0.00

Our arithmetic: Claude Free plan = $0 (our arithmetic)

Pro ($20 billed monthly) adds more usage if you iterate a lot.

  • Step 2: Higgsfield Plus, 1 month (Recraft V4.1 Pro vector, about 20 tries = 200 of 1,000 credits): $49.00

    Our arithmetic: Plus $49/month with 1,000 credits; 20 × 10 credits = 200 credits (our arithmetic)

Higgsfield says Plus and Ultra open every model and paid plans include commercial use; Starter ($15) has 'selected models', and we couldn't confirm Recraft is one of them. Vector credit costs from Higgsfield's Recraft guide (verified Aug 2026).

6. Caveats and assumptions

  • Tracing is never a perfect copy: Inkscape's manual says not to expect a 100% faithful version, and Recraft warns photoreal, 3D or textured images may produce artifacts. Simple flat logos convert best.
  • AI-made lettering is often slightly off. Set the business name in a real font whose license allows commercial and logo use.
  • Credit and API prices are our arithmetic at the listed rates (Higgsfield's Recraft costs were verified by Higgsfield in August 2026); retries cost more.
  • Before you print signs or shirts, search your country's trademark database for similar names and marks, and don't copy other brands' logos.
