AI skills we actually read
27 free skills for Claude, Cursor and Codex, picked for writers, marketers, founders and creators, plus 4 for developers. We read each one's instructions and bundled scripts before listing it. Every card shows what we found, the license and the install steps from the source repo. We did not run any skill code.
Every link goes to the original GitHub repo. How we vet · How to install
Showing all 27 skills.
No Grok-specific skill made this list: the only official one we found (create-skill) ships built into Grok Build, so there is nothing to install. xAI's docs say Grok Build reads Claude Code skills, plugins and .claude/rules, and ~/.agents/skills, so most Claude skills here should work there too.
No skills match both filters.

How to install
Claude Code and Claude.ai
Each card has the Claude Code commands from the source repo. For Anthropic's skills in Claude.ai, the anthropics/skills README says they are already available on paid plans, or you can upload one as a custom skill.
Cursor
Cursor rules are single .mdc files: create a .cursor/rules/ folder in your project and copy the file into it, per the awesome-cursorrules README.
Codex
Open /plugins in Codex and install from the openai-curated marketplace. That wording comes from the openai/plugins repo's marketplace.json and the marketingskills README, not from an OpenAI install doc, so we mark it "per repo".
Grok Build
xAI's docs say Grok Build reads Claude Code skills, plugins and .claude/rules, and ~/.agents/skills, so most Claude skills here should work there too. The only official Grok skill we found (create-skill) ships built into Grok Build, so it isn't listed.
How we vet
- Read, not just listed. We read each skill's instructions, listed every bundled file, and read or searched every bundled script for shell commands, network calls, credential access and file writes. Anything we found is in the card's safety notes. We did not run any skill code.
- License checked per folder. We took the license from the skill folder's own LICENSE.txt first, then the skill's license field, then the plugin manifest, then the repo's root LICENSE. Only Apache-2.0, MIT and CC0-1.0 made the list.
- Install steps copied, not written. Every install command comes from the source README or marketplace file.
- Original repos only. We used directory sites only to find skills. They don't show licenses, and their star counts belong to the host repo, which can push copies above the originals. Every link here goes to the original GitHub repo.
- Plugins can reach other services. Anthropic's plugins include settings (
.mcp.json) for remote connectors such as Slack, HubSpot and Canva. They connect only if you authorize them, and the skills listed here work on pasted content without them. - Sponsorships. coreyhaines31/marketingskills runs a paid, disclosed sponsorship program. The 3 skills we list from it contain no partner links or promotions; we checked their links.
- Maintained. Every source repo had commits in 2026.
- What we left out. About 30 skills in 13 groups: mostly proprietary or missing licenses (about 18 skills, including Anthropic's docx, pdf, pptx and xlsx skills, which are source-available, not open source), duplicates (5), and two groups with heavy shell or network activity.
